BRIEF
How might we tap into the potential of train stations so they become spaces that amplify and influence positive behaviours?
PROBLEM
Train stations lack multiple functions; there is hidden potential as a space for change. There is no connection between commuters and the community the station is based in. Commuters feel uninspired, anxious, and bored.
SOLUTION
Kinetic energy tiles are installed into stations as a wayfinding system. Sustainable energy is generated as commuters walk across the tiles.
The energy generated helps power the station, saving money on energy bills.
Money saved on the bills goes back into the community to help independent businesses and community causes.
The commuter feels accomplished by helping the community and inspired by the future of kinetic energy.
A REGENERATIVE CONCEPT
After scanning the QR code on the floor tiles or posters, the user is taken to the Step Into app where commuters can track how much energy they have generated each day.
This allows commuters to engage in the data collected, letting them see that their commute is more than getting from A to B.
